We were delighted to have a full coach for our trip to Cliveden. We had a lovely ride enjoying the sun shining through the trees. We congregated in the large orangery for our morning break and then commenced our guided tour learning about Cliveden’s 300 years of politics, passion and pleasure. We have since learned that Megan Markle and her Mother stayed at Cliveden the night before the wedding! We checked it out first!!! After a brief look at the Parterre we rejoined our coach for the afternoon visit to Hughenden - Victorian Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli’s home. During the war Hughenden became the headquarters of map-makers for bomber command. We enjoyed this talk and our tour of this delightful house and grounds.
You may like to view a short movie clip on our website of our day out at Cliveden and Hughenden Manor. This video was compiled from photographs taken by Doug Neale and David Mitchell. It runs for 4½ minutes.
