Winter Talks Programme, 2018
In November we enjoyed a talk about the Woodland Trust given by Trust volunteers Tish Johnson and David Hatcher. Tish outlined the work of the Woodland Trust including tree planting and ancient woodland restoration. She also discussed the many bugs and diseases which can badly affect healthy trees including Oak processionary moth and Ash dieback. After the refreshment break Tish and David talked about the Memorial Wood which is being established locally at Langley Vale and is set to become a living legacy for future generations in commemoration of the First World War Centenary.
The December Talk was presented by Bob Sinfield who has spent 25 years as a script writer working with every star on the box from Bob Monkhouse and Jasper Carrott to Tracy Ullman and Rory Bremner. Originally from Cornwall Bob trained as an actor at the Rose Burford College in Sidcup and he used many of his acting skills to keep us entertained. Bob spoke very effectively preferring not to use the microphone or slide projector and his many amusing stories about the comedians he had written “gags” for was an enjoyable and light hearted introduction to the Christmas Season.
